Do you have any other chemistry suggestions besides Apologia? I know several homeschool families whose children are really struggling using Apologia's chemistry curriculum, so maybe there's something else out there that would work as well but not require so much memorization and math.

In her article You CAN Teach High School Science Labs! Lee says "...use what works for [your] student, because not all children learn the same way. It’s more important that a curriculum WORKS than if it is popular, inexpensive, or highly rated." Lee also says to check out the following:
