I just had to write to let you know that my daughter received the Regent's Scholarship for Pepperdine University! This is a $40,700 annual award. I am still in shock daily. We found out a week ago, and it has taken this long for it to actually sink in. Of course this is after hours and hours of work on both of our parts, my daughter writing countless essays and filling out applications, and me writing course descriptions . But we figured out that even if we spent 100 hours in the process, we were actually making about $1600 an hour!
I cannot thank you enough for all the direction you have given me over the past few years. Honestly, the college application process has proven to be one of the most challenging things I have ever done. It challenged my faith and sanity. I cannot imagine trying to do it on my own. Thank you for choosing to spend your post-schooling years helping others! The prospect of home schooling high school IS scary, but looking back, the blessing of intimacy I now share with my daughter by having spent these past four years together was worth it. Thank you for helping me to feel the fear and do it anyway!
I have been following your advice for 3 years now! Last year I leaped into the Gold Care Club with the purchase of the Comprehensive Record Solution. I am so thankful for your willingness to mentor the homeschool community. My family has just gone through the college application process for the first time. Thanks to you, I felt very aware of what to expect, and confident in our coursework, preparation and transcript. We chose to send a full package, with a cover letter, school profile, table of contents, transcript and course descriptions to each college our daughter applied to, though none required anything other than the transcript. Her top three college choices have already sent acceptance letters with initial scholarship offers based on GPA and test scores. As a homeschooling mother, teacher, tutor and guidance counselor, I truly appreciate all you do!
I want to thank you for all that you have done for me in my homeschool-mom journey.
I’ve been a Gold Care Club member for a long time and it has been invaluable to me. I wanted to thank you! My son is away at college in his second semester of freshman year. He is doing great and although the course work is rigorous, he is WELL prepared for college. Many people in my life would question how in the world a homeschooler could get into college. As I tried not to let those fears creep in, I was introduced to you. Your services, webinars and conferences as a Gold Care Club member helped me gain the confidence I needed.
When college application time came, I freaked out! I didn’t plan and prepare in advance as well as I should have. You were the voice of reason, and you guided me towards your Transcript Pajama Party. My son wrote his essays, and the applications were submitted. He applied to a handful of schools, a couple of which were definite REACH schools (I’m talking Ivy League). He didn’t get into every school he applied to, but he got acceptance letters! And SCHOLARSHIP offers!!
I mentioned the “reach” schools, because although he did not get in to those, the experiences of applying were fantastic. He overcame his nerves, he participated in face-to-face as well as phone interviews with these colleges and did SO WELL! I believe God guided my son right where he was supposed to be, and he is thriving.
So, thank you Lee! I know The HomeScholar is your business, but honestly, it’s like a ministry as well. You have such a gift and such wisdom to help a frazzled homeschool mom gain the confidence she needs to homeschool high school . I am not a teacher by trade, and had no clue what I was doing when I started this journey, thank you for helping me! As I write this email, I have another high schooler that I am homeschooling. This child is completely different than her brother was in learning style, passions, and all around interests. I thought I would have it all together by now, but I don’t! I can’t wait until I can get my membership going again I need you Lee!!
Even though I am in the field of education, finding a plan for homeschooling high school and preparing good college transcripts was not easy. Then I came across Lee’s website and everything changed. I joined the “Gold Care Club” and can’t wait for my weekly discussion with Lee. I now feel confident that my daughter will have the necessary transcripts for graduating high school as well as the crucial transcripts for getting into the college of her choice.
I have seen no other site on the web better equipped than yours to help homeschooling high school students, and I will be telling others nothing but good things about your site. I am the type who researches something and eventually becomes reasonably well educated on the subject. This is what I have done when it comes to homeschooling our high school daughter. I have spent many months getting up to speed on setting up a schedule for her high school years, feeling good about the curriculum I've picked and starting a transcript. You have helped me put the finishing touches on all my plans and now I feel confident that I can get our daughter through her high school years and adequately prepare her for college. Thanks a lot and God bless!
First, Lee, you have been a great help in answering my questions concerning my daughter taking a Gap Year. Second, I raved over your High School Planning Guide and the Sample Grading This is how I felt after downloading everything offered on the Gold-Care membership: I know for certain that in the near future I will be choosing one of the Transcript Templates to make my own official transcript for my daughter. However, when I came across the Planning Guide and the Sample Grading Criteria, I felt that I had just had a personal support session with Lee, and that I came away with so much useful information that I could use right now! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this info and for talking with me today. Your personal experiences that you shared with me, along with all the information, really helps a lot. Thanks for listening also. I tend to talk a lot, so it is refreshing to find someone who actually listens and thinks some of what I have to say is worth listening to. One thing during our conversation that I meant to mention was how valuable your information was on giving credit for high school courses when I don't use a curriculum. That is amazing to know. Knowing that is worth the whole price of your membership! Anyway, I didn't mean to ramble so, but thank you SO MUCH! I will keep in touch.
You saved me many tears by helping me with your Gold Care Club this past year... Just so you know our son has been accepted at all the colleges he has applied and one admissions officer commented "I can tell by his transcript that you have done a great job homeschooling him". Thanks Lee!
Thank you so much for the links and resources. Thanks, too, for being available to talk yesterday. I truly enjoy talking with you! You help me to feel more confident about putting Meaghan's transcript together. Lee, you have so much knowledge and wisdom to share about home schooling high school, preparing for college, and putting a transcript together. Thanks for sharing it with others! You are such an encouragement and a blessing!! I really do want you to know just how much you are appreciated!!!!
You helped me out a couple of years ago, and assisted me with a high school transcript for my son Landon. I was just beginning to deal with some brain tumors and several surgeries and so appreciated your help. Things are still not as easy for me as they used to be and I did very little homeschooling with my then 13 year old Austyn that 2008-2009 school year. I thought I would give you an update on Landon. In June he graduated with honors from Eastern with a degree in business administration and economics. He did get two scholarships of $2000. We didn't really have the time and energy to pursue more, these past 2 1/2 years have been filled with doctors, hospitals, surgeries etc. Landon now 21 lives in Spokane and in January of this year started a business called Community Restorations, he buys and restores foreclosed homes. He bought a home for himself too, remodeled it and moved in the month of December. Landon is our 5th child homeschooled and another success story. One to go! Actually our final child, Austyn, now 15 took the compass test and passed. In a year he will begin dual enrollment. He is interested in taking a computer class there so he will probably do that this September. I enjoy getting your email news letters, thank you and thanks for your help when I really needed it.
I was just telling my husband how good it feels to have a coach. He is a realtor and he has a coach too, so he sees the value in it. I look forward to talking to you next week. I have my list going and I will email you with a heads up before I call. Have a great week.
You provide a much needed service. I must tell you that I've spent the past three hours going over all the materials and still haven't exhausted all that you offer. Your service is an answer to prayer. It's very late, (nine hours ahead of west coast time) so I must close but I will be contacting you soon. Thank you for providing a first-rate service.
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your audio workshops. I often listen to them on my iPod while I walk in the mornings or on my computer while I’m making dinner. They offer such practical, in-depth advice, and such an affordable product.
What you do is a wonderful ministry. I gleaned wonderful insights from your seminars at the convention. The information on transcripts was so simple and straightforward, that I'm actually looking forward to getting started. I've been avoiding writing my course descriptions until now too. But now, I'm more encouraged, more energized and more motivated than ever before, thanks to you. I'll be telling anyone who will listen about what incredible resources you've provided.
This information is so much more than I ever could have hoped for from anyone! You're truly providing a wonderful service. Thank you so much for your help. I had this little voice in my head telling me I needed to keep great records through middle school, so I have been doing it right along. Glad to know it can work for his high school transcripts. Thank you for your words of wisdom. You've helped yet another 'worry wort' mom!!
You have created such an incredible resource and I'm thrilled to be mentored through these high school years. It's obvious you are a woman of great excellence. I believe you offer so much to the homeschool community and you obviously care deeply about the education of those choosing to educate their children at home.
Dear Lee, Honestly, we are IN AWE of the resources you’ve got here. With our journey into high school just beginning, we are SO happy to have you with us! Thank you again for putting together such AMAZING resources for the homeschool community!
Again, just 20 minutes with you and I feel so relieved! This "high school" thing is gonna be alright! Thanks for the list of books. Reading is the love language of both of my boys also. So I truly appreciate this list to give me a foundation. The new school year is starting, and I am introducing folks to you left and right and hope that they jump on board, since your info has been priceless to me. I wanted to give you praise for your teaching me record keeping. Because of everything I learned from you, Jordan's evaluator was amazed by my record keeping, course descriptions , etc. Thanks for everything you do.
I spent an entire morning perusing Lee's Gold Club Care materials, and I was thoroughly impressed by breadth and depth of information she provides. As a busy homeschooler, you don't have time to spend hours upon hours conducting research about high school. Take advantage of the work Lee has done for you to prepare how-to videos, provide information on standardized tests and college scholarships, create college preparation guides, give curriculum advice, share links to the web's best homeschool resources, and write articles that are so amazingly informative, I had to return to the Gold Care Club again... and again... and again...
It was so great talking with you today! Thank you so much for all of your advice, your time, and your encouragement. I am so excited to know I have someone so knowledgeable that I can go to for help with everything regarding homeschooling high school! The email you just sent my way today is a treasure trove. You really know how to listen and know what to recommend! I have already sent my son to look at the Computing Olympiad site. Thank you for all of the personalized links and advice. You are the best resource I’ve ever had! Wow! I will definitely “do my homework” this week, and I look very forward to talking with you again next Wednesday. Thanks again for everything.
I knew I had to prepare transcripts for college admission, and my son had taken the SAT, but I knew NOTHING about what I should be doing to prepare for college admissions. I decided to purchase the Gold Care Club, learned loads about junior year and homeschooling high school through the Club and Lee's other materials, and was able to prepare a transcript, go to a college fair, visit colleges, and finish my course descriptions by the beginning of senior year. Having Lee to advise you and hold your hand as you navigate the process will ensure success, as long as you do your part. She's helped me with two boys now, and both have been accepted to the colleges of their choice with scholarships at each one. I encourage you to learn all you can from Lee's materials and take advantage of all the support she has for you for this year--you CAN do it!
I’d like to thank Lee for helping me gain the confidence I needed to start teaching high school this year. Instead of timidly requesting information from various sources I simply devoured everything I could find on her web site and spoke to her several times as part of a Gold Care Club membership. I cannot stress enough how empowering it is to have this important information up front! I am not worried about missing test dates. I know when to start communicating with colleges. I know generally what courses my daughter will need to complete. Scholarships are not a big mystery anymore. Transcripts will be a labor of love instead of a necessary evil. And if we prepare well, we may save thousands of dollars by obtaining college credit in high school. Yes, high school is a lot of work for both student and teacher – but what a difference it makes to have a plan and to know the game rules. Thanks again, Lee, for being such a great mentor.
