The "I'm Bored" Phenomenon
How did I cope with boys in the summer? I made an "I'm bored" list for my kids to use.
I posted a list of things to do on the fridge. The lists were labeled "inside", "outside", "for money" and "special request". Any whining, or other expressions of boredom were directed there. The following is about 1/3 of each list from my fridge. I included every activity I could think of, and every toy in the house. It was very effective when the kids were younger.
I hope this helps!

Thanks, Kela! When I made this list, I went through every closet and the garage, looking for things they like to do, and added some activities I read about in "Family Fun" magazine. I can't say that I "never" heard the words "I'm bored" but it seemed to help at least!
Blessings,
Lee
Wonderful list. With six children constantly telling my that i'm bored (no matter what the season), its really easy to get frustrated with them. I would like to make and personalize a list myself. Surely most of those things will appeal to them.
